Starting aPriori
You can start aPriori Professional Desktop in CAD-Independent or Direct Integration mode for Pro Engineer / Creo only.
Note: When starting aPriori, you may or may not see a login window asking you to enter a username and password. This behavior can differ depending on how your aPriori system administrator has configured your system. You should be given this information when beginning to use aPriori.
To start aPriori Desktop in CAD-Independent mode
Click the aPriori icon

If you have the "Cost in aPriori" plugin installed in your CAD tool, click the aPriori icon: . (These plugins are installed separately from the core product. If you are interested in using one, please contact your aPriori administrator. Note: The Catia and SW plugins are available for download from the aPriori Support Site. The NX Cost in aPriori plugin is delivered as a custom integration through aPriori Professional Services.)

Your CAD tool may require you to specify whether to open and cost a single part or a group of part variations.
Note: If you initiated a component cost using "Cost in aPriori" via CAD, and you change the geometry of the component in your CAD application to recost the component, press the aPriori icon again. This step is required because if you try to update your cost directly in aPriori, the system will not be referencing the component’s most up-to-date geometry.

• NX: Select Cost in aPriori > Cost in aPriori.
• CATIA V5: Select Tools > Cost in aPriori > Cost in aPriori.
• SolidWorks: Select Cost in aPriori > Cost in aPriori.
If the aPriori icon or menu is not visible in your CAD tool, you can make it visible as follows:
• NX: Select Tools > Customize, select the Toolbars tab, and check the Cost in aPriori checkbox.
• CATIA V5: Select View > Toolbars > Cost in aPriori.
• SolidWorks: Select View > Toolbars > Cost in aPriori.
To modify the folder in which your CAD tool looks for aPriori, do the following:
• NX: Select Cost in aPriori > Options.
• CATIA V5: Select Tools > Cost in aPriori > Options.
• SolidWorks: Select Cost in aPriori > Options.
To start aPriori Desktop in Direct Integration mode for Pro Engineer / Creo Only
1 Start your CAD application. By default, the aPriori Cost Ticker starts automatically.
