Finished Part GCD
Represents the geometry of the finished part. Important properties include the following:
• External Perimeter: perimeter not including perimeter of cutouts.
• Perimeter: external perimeter plus cutout perimeters.
• Type: during geometry extraction, a solid body is interpreted as a Finished Part GCD if it is relatively large and overlaps the large majority of the plies in the part. (The required overlap is controlled by the site variable minFinalShapeOverlapRatio--80% by default.) If the solid body associated with this GCD has been incorrectly identified as a Finished Part, you can set this field to one of the following: CORE, INSERT, or OTHER. (Additional logic for inserts is planned for a future release.)
External Perimeter and Perimeter are used to determine the length to be trimmed for secondary Profile Milling and Waterjet Cutting—see
Secondary Processes.
With the setup option Tool Path Length, users can override the automatically-determined trim length. This option is available on the Finished Part GCD for both the Profile Milling operation and the Waterjet Cutting operation.
If no Finished Part GCD was extracted (because the CAD model contains no solid bodies representing the finished part), then part trim length is determined based on the geometry of the largest ply.
