Operation sequence table

The Operation Sequence table for the selected GCD shows:

  • The sequence of operations

  • All alternative operations

  • All optional operations

  • The time to perform the selected sequence

Viewing options

The View menu gives you two options to create different views of the Operation Sequence Selection window:

  • Show Routings with Incomplete Cost

If this option is checked, sequences that costed with warnings and also available sequences that were not costed are displayed.

  • Show Uncosted Processes within Visible Routings

If this option is checked, all uncosted nodes within the sequence are displayed. A node could be uncosted if the operation it is representing is not required for the GCD or has been manually excluded from the sequence.

If both options are unchecked, only the sequences that have been costed without warnings are displayed.

Understanding the legend

Click the Legend button to display the explanatory list of node types.

Icons

Description

A node required by aPriori for the selected Manufacturing Process Group. A failure at one of the required nodes causes the entire routing to fail.

An expandable node representing a choice between two or more alternative processes. Each alternative represents a routing.

A copy of a node created as a result of expanding the original node. Copy nodes appear faded, but they are still costed in every routing.

A node that was not costed by aPriori because it was not required for manufacturing the component or has been manually excluded from the routing. Uncosted nodes are displayed only when you select Show Uncosted Nodes within Visible Routings from the View menu.

Node Borders

Icons

Description

Solid border indicates that the node is included by aPriori and cannot be included or excluded manually.

Dashed border indicates that the node can be included or excluded manually.

Expandable nodes

Nodes with the plus sign are expandable. When you click on the plus sign, the next level of detail is displayed. The node can expand vertically or horizontally.

  • Alternative nodes expand vertically displaying two or more new lines underneath the node. Each line represents an alternative sequence available for the node. You can select only one sequence.

  • Conjunctive nodes expand horizontally, displaying all available options in one line underneath the node. You can manually include one or more options into the operation sequence.

Selecting and editing an operation sequence

Clicking a row in the Operation Sequence table selects the operation sequence this row represents. Clicking a node selects the node and the row.

The selected node shows the cost status indicator:

  • Green: Costing on this node completed successfully.

  • Yellow: Costing on this node completed with warnings. Typically, indicates that feasibility rules were not evaluated for the operation.

  • Red: Costing on this node failed. Indicates that operation failed feasibility evaluation.

Edit an operation sequence

  1. In the Geometric Cost Drivers pane, highlight a GCD, right-click and select Edit Operation Sequence Selection window is displayed.

  1. Select an operation sequence.

  2. Change operation sequence options as needed by Selecting alternative operations and Using the right-click menu.

  3. Click OK to apply changes, recalculate the cost, and close the Operation Sequence Selection window; or click Apply to apply changes and recalculate the cost without leaving the Operation Sequence Selection window.

Note: If you select an operation sequence and close the Operation Sequence Selection window, aPriori remembers the costs calculated in the last costing event only. When you open the Operation Sequence Selection window again, only the sequences that were costed in the last costing event have values in the Time column. The uncosted sequences are displayed only the View > Show Routings with Incomplete Cost option is selected.
