Access Control

Access Control enables administrators to define user permissions for aPriori applications (such as aPriori Professional, Cost Insight Admin, and Cost Insight Report), modules (such as the Digital Factory Toolset, System Admin Toolset, and Electronics Data Collection) and objects (such as Digital Factories, process groups, components, scenarios, reports, inputs, and outputs). To learn which applications and modules you have permission to use and which objects you have permission to Read, Create, Delete, or Update, see your organizations aPriori System Administrator.

Understanding the basic principles of Access Control can help you to understand how access control impacts what you can and can not see and do in aPriori Professional.

For example, if you search for a component that you know exists, but cannot find it, then it might be because you don't have permission to view it. If you open a component, make some costing overrides in the Part Details panel, and then are unable to save it, this might because you don't have permission to update that component.

These are basic scenarios, but some types of access issues can be more subtle, such as when working with Assemblies or Roll-ups where you have Read and Update permission to most objects, but not all child components.

For information on implementing and managing Access Control in aPriori applications, see the aPriori System Administration Guide.
