Automatic geometry updates

Under certain conditions, to ensure that data reflects the current state of a design, aPriori can automatically monitor a CAD file for geometry changes and apply any detected changes to an associated scenario for which costing or another action that requires the regeneration of Geometric Cost Drivers (GCDs) has been initiated. The conditions that determine whether aPriori Professional monitors and automatically updates the geometry for a scenario are the mode that aPriori Professional is operating in and whether the scenario is Active or Inactive.

aPriori Professional can operate in these modes:

  • CAD-independent – aPriori Professional is not directly integrated with a CAD application.

    • File-connected – aPriori Professional is connected to the CAD-file for a scenario for which an action that requires GCD regeneration has been initiated.

      In this mode, a scenario can be either Active or Inactive. aPriori Professional automatically monitors the associated CAD file for changes and applies detected changes to the scenario only if the scenario is Active.

    • File-disconnected – aPriori Professional is not connected to a relevant CAD-file.

  • Direct integration – aPriori Professional is directly integrated with a CAD application.

    For this mode, a scenario can be either Active or Inactive. Only if a scenario is Active does aPriori Professional automatically monitor the associated CAD file for changes and apply detected changes to the scenario when an action that requires GCD regeneration is initiated.

    • CAD-connected – aPriori Professional is connected to the CAD application and the active model in the CAD application is associated with the scenario for which an action that requires GCD regeneration has been initiated.

      In this mode, a scenario can be either Active or Inactive. aPriori Professional automatically monitors the associated CAD file for changes and applies detected changes to the scenario only if the scenario is Active.

    • CAD-disconnected – aPriori Professional is not connected to the relevant file in the CAD application.
