Estimated Internal and External 3D Perimeter Calculations
This section covers the following calculations:
Estimated Internal 3D Perimeter Calculation
Estimated Internal 3D Perimeter = Square root of ((Parting Line Projected Opening Perimeter)2 + (2 * Parting Line Height)2)
-
Parting Line Projected Opening Perimeter: This PartingLine GCD property is visible in the Geometric Cost Drivers panel; see GCD Extraction for Plastic Molding for a detailed description.
-
Parting Line Height: This is the PartingLine GCD’s Height property, visible in the Geometric Cost Drivers panel. The measurement is taken in the draw direction between the lowest and highest part on the parting line.
Estimated External 3D Perimeter Calculation
Estimated External 3D Perimeter = Square root of ((Parting Line Projected Perimeter)2 + (2 * Parting Line Height)2)
-
Parting Line Projected Perimeter: This is the length, in millimeters, of the perimeter of the shadow of the part cast onto a plane that is orthogonal to the draw direction by light that is shining along the draw direction. It is used to determine the parting line of the tool and is visible in the Geometric Cost Drivers panel for the PartingLine GCD.
-
Parting Line Height: As described above.
