Drill Registration Holes Setup Options

The following setup options are provided by the Drill Registration Holes node of the Process Options Editor:

Total Number of Registration Holes per Panel

Registration holes are drilled into a panel’s scrap area and are used by downstream processes to properly orient the layer panels with respect to one another or with respect to the machine.

By default in starting point Digital Factories, aPriori assumes that exactly 3 registration holes are drilled per panel. The number of registration holes affects cycle time for the Drill Registration Holes process, as well as cycle time for the Router process (for mounting fix pins corresponding to the registration holes).

Administrators can override the default number of registration holes with the cost model variable totalNumRegistrationHolesPerPanel (3 in starting point Digital Factories).

With the setup option Total Number of Registration Holes per Panel (defined by the Drill Registration Holes node of the Process Options Editor), users can override the default on a per-part basis. The number of registration holes must be no less than 3.

Total Number of Registration Holes per Array (When Array Depanelization Enabled)

By default in starting point Digital Factories, whenArray Depanelization is enabled, aPriori assumes that exactly 4 registration holes are drilled per array. Note that this does not include per-panel registration holes (see Total Number of Registration Holes per Panel). The number of registration holes affects cycle time for the Drill Registration Holes process. Administrators can override the default number of registration holes with the cost model variable totalNumRegistrationHolesPerArray (4 in starting point Digital Factories). Users can override the default on a per-part basis with the setup option Total Number of Registration Holes per Array (When Array Depanelization Enabled), defined by the Drill Registration Holes node of the Process Options Editor. The number of registration holes must be no less than the value of totalNumRegistrationHolesPerArray.

Number of Stacks Being Drilled Simultaneously

By default in starting point Digital Factories, aPriori assumes that registration holes (see Total Number of Registration Holes per Panel) are drilled in one panel at a time.

Administrators can customize the default with the cost model variable defaultNumSimultaneousPanels (1 in starting point Digital Factories). With the setup option Number of Stacks Being Drilled Simultaneously (defined by the Drill Registration Holes node of the Process Options Editor), users can override the default on a per part basis.

The Number of Stacks Being Drilled Simultaneously can affect machine selection, because the selected machine’s Usable Height must be able to accommodate the total height of all the materials for all the panels being drilled at once.
