Material Stock Setup Option

The Material Stock process provides the following setup option:

  • Orientation of bar stock

This process setup option has three radio-button settings:

  • Let aPriori Decide: default

  • Upright: stock axis is parallel with part draw direction

  • Flat: stock axis is perpendicular to part draw direction

By default, Let aPriori Decide is selected, and aPriori determines the default stock orientation by evaluating the finished part’s length and width. Parts with high length-to-width ratios (that is, relatively long thin parts) will have a flat orientation by default (with the stock length/axis perpendicular to the part draw dimension). Parts with low ratios (that is, relatively short, wider parts) will have an upright orientation by default (with the stock length/axis parallel with the part draw dimension).

By default, the threshold value for the length-to-width ratio is 3, but this can be configured by your Digital Factory Administrator with the cost model variable maxLengthWdithRatio.
