Multi-Shot Operation Setup Options
The Multi-Shot operation provides the following setup options:
You can access these options from the Operation Sequence Dialog for a Stage GCD: right click the Stage in the Geometric Cost Drivers pane and select Edit Operation:
In the Operation Sequence Selection dialog, expand the nodes to reveal the Multi-Shot node, right click it, and select Process Setup Options:
Nominal Wall Thickness
Nominal wall thickness affects calculated Cool Time and Required Clamp Force. By default, nominal wall thickness is calculated as described in Nominal Wall Thickness.
With this setup option, users can override the default on a per-part basis.
Material Regrind Allowance
The regrind allowance is the fraction of the material used in producing a part that has been reground. That is, if T is the amount of material used in producing a part, and the regrind allowance is R, then the amount of reground material used in producing the component is R * T, and the amount of virgin material used is (1-R) * T.
The material regrind allowance drives material utilization; see Material Cost and Utilization for Multi-Shot Molding.
With this setup option, users can override the default on a per-part basis.
Machine Mold Efficiency
In Calculated utilization mode, mold efficiency is the fraction of material used in producing a component that is accounted for by the volume of material composing the part and occupying the runner system. In other words, if T is the total volume of material used per component (including waste material that is not used in steady state part production; see below), and V is the volume of material composing the part and occupying the runner system, aPriori assumes that V/T = mold efficiency.
Waste material that is not used in steady state part production includes material lost in purging the machine after setup, checking tool shutoff, spillage of feed stock, and so forth.
In Calculated utilization mode, mold efficiency drives utilization; see Material Cost and Utilization for Multi-Shot Molding.
In Machine Average utilization mode, aPriori assumes that mold efficiency equals utilization.
By default, mold efficiency is specified by the cost model variable defaultMachineMoldEfficiencyMSM (0.95 in starting point Digital Factories)
With this setup option, users can override the default on a per-part basis.
