Unlinking material fields

When you create a custom material and specify a source material, or when you link a custom material to a source material after you've created it, each material field in the custom material is linked to the corresponding field in the source material. However, you can unlink a custom material's field by editing its value. (To display and edit a material's fields, select the material in the navigation pane of the Digital Factory Manager.)

For example, if you wish to create a custom material with the same values as a source material except for Density, first link to the desired source material. Then edit the value for Density in the custom material. Now Density is unlinked, while other fields remained linked. So, if both the Unit Cost and Density fields are updated in the source material, only the new value of Unit Cost is copied to the custom material.
