Installation
For customers using the on-premise version of aPriori, the aPriori Regional Data Libraries must be loaded from a computer with aP Pro installed and on the same Local Area Network (LAN) as the database server.
For customers using the appStream version of aPriori, please ensure you are logged into your correct deployment (Production, Sandbox, etc). Once appStream has loaded, upload the relevant Regional Data Libraries into the “Temporary Folder” of the appStream folder structure. When uploaded to this location you are ready to import the relevant zip files via the Digital Factory Manager menu “File > Import > Multiple Digital Factories”
The time required to install the update depends on the connection to the database and the number of regions that need updating. According to aPriori testing, it takes approximately 90 seconds per Digital Factory when loading to a database on a LAN.
Caution: If you try to load the updates from a machine that is not on the same LAN as the database server, the update may take many hours to complete.
Although users may remain connected to the system during an update, as a best practice, notify end users before updating to the new release. Updates are effective immediately and end users may notice cost differences during the update.
As of aPriori Release 2021 R1, the term Digital Factory replaced the term Virtual Production Environment (VPE). However, the file extension *.vpe is still valid.
-
Download the package provided by aPriori Customer Support to a local folder. This folder contains these files:
-
License file containing access to new regions –.apz file
-
A baseline update file – baseLineUpdate-<release-version>-(2026-06).apx
-
Regional Data Libraries – files with extension *.vpe.zip
-
-
Import the new license file. To do so, you must be configured as a System Administrator in the aPriori environment.
-
Import the baseline update file. To do so, you must be configured as a Digital Factory Administrator in the aPriori environment:
-
Launch the Digital Factory Toolset.
-
Click File > Import > Import aPriori Baseline Update…
-
Navigate to and select the baseline update file and then click Open.
Note: If you download the file using Internet Explorer, the original file extension of .apx may change to .zip. By default, the file browser displays only files with .apx extensions. Therefore, you must either select the option to view all files or change the file extension of the update back to .apx.
-
When you are asked to confirm, click OK.
While the update is being loaded, you can see the progress in the lower right corner of the toolset window.
-
When a pop-up message confirms that the update is complete, click OK.
-
-
Restart aPriori Professional or refresh your database connection.
-
Use this procedure to import Digital Factories:
-
Launch the Digital Factory Toolset.
-
Click File > Import > Multiple Digital Factories….
-
Follow the steps in the dialog to import the Digital Factories from the directory you selected:
-
Select a local directory that contains all the regional data libraries.
-
Select the *.vpe files you wish to import.
-
Click OK.
While the update is being loaded, the progress bar displays in the bottom right of the main user interface (UI). Progress does not display in the Digital Factory UI. Depending on the number of selected Regional Data Libraries and the speed of your connection, the *vpe file import process can take several hours.
-
-
When a pop-up message confirms that the update is complete, click OK.
Note: Although you can import Digital Factories file-by-file by using the Import capability in the Digital Factory Toolset (File > Import > Digital Factory…), this method is inefficient, because it requires much more manual interaction than this procedure.
