Platform and CAD Support Updates

aPriori Professional 2022 R1 SP1 provides certified support for recent versions of various CAD formats and provides compatible Cost in aPriori plug-ins to integrate a supported CAD system with:

  • aPriori Professional – For aPriori On-Premise deployments

  • Cost Insight Design – For aPriori Cloud deployments

Some older CAD versions and older database versions no longer are certified or supported.

For a complete and up-to-date listing of all versions of supported CAD systems, Operating Systems, Database platforms, and Graphics Cards and Drivers, consult the 2022 R1 SP1 version of the aPriori On-Premise System Requirements.

If your company is planning to upgrade to a CAD, database, or operating system version that is NOT listed in the System Requirements, please contact aPriori Customer Support.

This release contains these updates in support:

Support for the NX™ 2007 Series and the NX™ 2206 Series

The NX™ 2007 and 2206 series are certified for use with release 2022 R1 SP1.

These usage modes are supported:

  • aPriori Professional (on-premise) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of NX™ 2007 or 2206 series CAD models opened directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori NX™ Plug-in.

  • Cost Insight Design (cloud) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of NX™ 2007 or 2206 series CAD models uploaded directly from the file system or via Cost in aPriori NX™ Plug-in.

Note: For both aPriori On-Premise and aPriori Cloud deployments, the Cost in aPriori NX™ Plug-in must be delivered as a services engagement.

Support for CATIA V5-6 R2022

CATIA™ V5-6R2022 models are certified for use with release 2022 R1 SP1.

These usage modes are supported:

  • aPriori Professional (on-premise) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of CATIA™ V5-6R2022 CAD models opened directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori CATIA™ V5 Plug-in.

  • Cost Insight Design (cloud) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of CATIA™ V5-6R2022 CAD models uploaded directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori CATIA™ V5 Plug-in.

Support for Creo® 9

Creo® 9 models are certified for use with release 2022 R1 SP1 with a known limitation.

These usage modes are supported:

  • aPriori Professional (on-premise) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of Creo® 9 CAD models opened directly from the file system or via a Creo® Direct integration with aPriori Professional.

  • Cost Insight Design (cloud) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of Creo® 9 CAD models uploaded directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori Creo® Cloud Plug-in.

Limitation

In Creo® 9, PTC changed how Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) annotations are defined in files. Due to this change, if a component that includes a GD&T annotation was created and last saved in older versions of Creo®, the annotation may not be imported when the file is uploaded to aPriori Professional via a Creo® 9 direct Integration.

Workaround

If an older version of Creo® CAD model includes GD&T annotations, save the model in Creo® 9 before opening it via a Creo® direct integration with aPriori Professional.

Note: If resaving the part in Creo® 9 does not resolve the issue, see How to convert legacy datums and annotations in Creo in the PTC knowledgebase.

Planned De-Support of Creo® 3

Official support for Creo® 3 to be discontinued in a future release of aPriori Professional.

Creo® 3 has reached the Support End Date published by PTC and the APIs used by aPriori to integrate with Creo® no longer are supported by PTC. Therefore, in a future release, support for Creo® 3 Direct Integration mode with on-premise installations of aPriori Professional will be discontinued

It is expected that aPriori will continue to be able to open CAD files saved in Creo® 3 (for example, via the File > Open CAD File option in aPriori Professional or by uploading them directly to aPriori Cloud Home and the cloud applications). However, aPriori will no longer regularly test these versions and reserves the right to not investigate or address issues which are apparent only in Creo® 3.

Note: PTC has published that all Creo® versions prior to Creo 7 already have reached their Support End Date, with no option for Extended Support. At this time, aPriori continues to provide support for Creo® 3 and higher versions including offering a Direct Integration mode. However, in future releases, aPriori will discontinue certification testing and support for certain older versions of Creo®.

Support for SOLIDWORKS™ 2022

SOLIDWORKS™ 2022 models are certified for use with release 2022 R1 SP1.

These usage modes are supported:

  • aPriori Professional (on-premise) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of SOLIDWORKS™ 2022 CAD models opened directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori CATIA™ V5 Plug-in.

  • Cost Insight Design (cloud) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of SOLIDWORKS™ 2022 CAD models uploaded directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori CATIA™ V5 Plug-in.

Support for SOLID EDGE® 2020 and SOLID EDGE® 2022

Solid Edge® 2020 and 2022 models are certified for use with release 2022 R1 SP1.

These usage modes are supported:

  • aPriori Professional (on-premise) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of Solid Edge® 2020 and 2022 CAD models opened directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori CATIA™ V5 Plug-in.

  • Cost Insight Design (cloud) can estimate the manufacturability and cost of Solid Edge® 2020 and 2022 CAD models uploaded directly from the file system or via a Cost in aPriori CATIA™ V5 Plug-in.

Note: Solid Edge® 2021, although expected to work release 2022 R1 SP1 with was not certified due to low customer demand.

De-Support of SOLID EDGE® ST7 and earlier versions

Official support for Solid Edge® ST7 and earlier versions has been discontinued, effective as of aPriori Professional 2022 R1 SP1.

aPriori no longer will test and certify the use of Solid Edge® ST7 or earlier versions with aP Pro. These versions reached End of Life some time ago and we are not aware of any current customers using that version. Customers likely still will be able to successfully open and analyze an ST7 file in aPriori, however aPriori no longer will validate this and will not address any issues found to occur only with that CAD version or earlier versions.

De-Support for Oracle 11g and 12c

aPriori Professional no longer supports Oracle 11g or 12c.

Oracle 11g and Oracle 12c both have reached End of Life with Oracle. As such, aPriori no longer tests and certifies the use of Oracle 11g and 12c.

aPriori encourages customers to upgrade to Oracle 19c, which is certified for use with aPriori.
