Platform and CAD Support Updates
aP Pro 2023 R1 SP2 provides certified support for running aP Pro on-premise on computers running the Windows 11 operating system.
Also see the note about de-support of older CAD versions, repeated below for customer awareness, and the note about de-support for the Rapid Prototyping manufacturing process group.
For a complete and up-to-date listing of all versions of supported CAD systems, Operating Systems, Database platforms, and Graphics Cards and Drivers, consult the 2023 R1 SP2 versions of the aP Pro System Requirements documentation and the aPriori Pro for Cloud Deployments documentation.
If your company is planning to upgrade to a CAD, database, or operating system version that is NOT listed in the System Requirements, contact aPriori Customer Support.
Operating Systems
Support for Windows 11
The aP Pro 23.1.x release stream is certified for use on the Windows 11 operating system.
Note that the third-party nesting library used in the Sheet Metal, Additive Manufacturing, and Stock Machining process groups is not officially certified on Windows 11 by its provider (HCL). However aPriori has not determined any issues when running this library on Windows 11 during our own certification testing and does not believe this should prevent interested customers from moving to Windows 11.
Manufacturing Process Groups
Pending: Removal of Rapid Prototyping Process Group
aPriori no longer will provide access to the Rapid Prototyping process group, as of the next major release, aPriori 2024 R1. Customers should instead use the Additive Manufacturing process group.
aPriori provided the Additive Manufacturing process group to replace the older Rapid Prototyping process group more than five years ago. However, the Rapid Prototyping process group has remained available to specific licensed customers. In the next major release, aPriori 2024 R1, this process group will be removed altogether. Customers should use the Additive Manufacturing process group instead.
CAD Systems and Formats
For awareness, these release notes repeat an announcement concerning de-support for older CAD versions, which first was published in the aPriori 2023 R1 SP1 release notes and System Requirements documents.
aPriori generally provides support, including Cost-in-aPriori plug-ins, for the most recent version of a supported CAD application and as many as four versions that were released prior to the current version of the application. For example, for a CAD application that is released on a yearly basis, aPriori supports the version that was released in the current year and the three versions that were released in the prior three years. This can include CAD versions which already have reached their published End of Support (EOS) date, especially for versions that are favored by aPriori customers. However, aPriori has no obligation to support or address issues for versions that have surpassed their EOS date and, therefore, reserves the right to prioritize the development and support of more recent versions over the support of versions that have surpassed their EOS date.
De-Support of old CAD system versions
As of aPriori 2023 R1 SP1, aPriori ceased testing and certification of specific older CAD system versions, which already have reached the respective Support End Date (End of Life) published by the CAD vendor. Cost-in-aPriori plug-ins no longer will be provided for these de-supported versions.
The following CAD versions no longer are supported or tested by aPriori:
-
Creo® 6 and earlier versions
-
CATIA™ V5-6 R2018 and earlier versions
-
NX™ 1926 and earlier versions
-
SOLIDWORKS™ 2019 and earlier versions
-
Autodesk® Inventor™ 2019 and earlier versions
-
Solid Edge® ST10 and earlier versions
It is expected that aPriori will continue to be able to open CAD files saved in these older versions (for example, via the File > Open CAD File option in aP Pro or via the Import CAD File option in aP Design. However, aPriori will no longer regularly test these versions and reserves the right to not investigate or address issues which are apparent only in de-supported versions.
Note that previously-released versions of Cost-in-aPriori plug-ins for these older versions will continue to work for aPriori 2023 R1 SP1 and aPriori 2023 R1 SP2 but may cease to work even for future hot fixes of those releases. aPriori will not provide Cost-in-aPriori plug-ins for any de-supported CAD versions for aPriori 2024 R1 and future major release streams.
