Powder Metal Enhancements

User-Assisted Geometry Inputs Now Available in Powder Metal

The Gear Definition dialog and the Modify Turning Axes functionality now are enabled in the Powder Metal process group. Previously these capabilities were available in several other process groups but disabled in Powder Metal.

The Gear Definition button, , is located in the toolbar above the aPriori Viewer window. It invokes the Gear Definition dialog which allows you to define a gear feature that is not represented in your CAD model or edit the properties of a gear (AxiGroove GCD) that aPriori has extracted from the CAD model. For more information, please refer to Defining AxiGrooves in the aPriori Cost Model Guide.

The Modify Turning Axes menu option is accessed from the Setup Axis tool button, , located in the toolbar above the aPriori Viewer window. A turning axis in aPriori represents an axis of revolution for rotationally-symmetric features that may be machined by turning machines (such as a lathe). By default aPriori identifies a single such axis of revolution for a part, represented by a pair of turning axes that are aligned with that axis and that point in opposite directions from one another. Use the Modify Turning Axes dialog to indicate to aPriori that some features on the part are turned about a different axis of revolution. For more information, please refer to Turning Axes in the aPriori Cost Model Guide.
