Improved Round Tube Stock Recognition
aPriori 2026 R1 SP1 significantly improves the accuracy of round tube stock identification in the Bar and Tube Fabrication process group. Previously, certain round tube geometries either were misclassified as round bar stock or failed to return a valid stock size, causing incorrect material selection and inaccurate material cost results.
The improved recognition logic more reliably identifies hollow round cross-sections across a broader range of part geometries—including parts with complex curves and non-standard cross-section sizes. This improvement addresses tube recognition issues on multiple parts reported by multiple customers.
Note: There are several site variables that affect whether parts with cylindrical cross sections are recognized as round bars or tubes, based on part dimensions including outer diameter (OD) values and wall thickness ratios (see Tube Recognition in the aPriori Cost Model Guide). The default values were chosen based on standard metal tube stock sizes. Customers who experience tube parts being misclassified as round bar after upgrading should contact aPriori Support to verify that these site variables are configured correctly for their environment.
