Add Missing Sub-Components

When a CAD file contains an assembly sub-component, but that sub-component is not in that CAD file's directory or subdirectory, aP Pro cannot locate the sub-component and designates it as missing.

For each missing sub-component, aP Pro:

  • Adds a line-item placeholder in the Assembly Details tab for that sub-component, displayed in gray strike-through font, with a yellow warning icon in the Status column to indicate that the sub-component is missing, and its costs are not included in the cost of the assembly.

  • Displays a warning dialog about missing sub-components when you first open and cost the assembly CAD file, and when you re-extract GCDs for the assembly scenario.

Example

In the example shown below, the CLUTCH_SPRING part file is missing:

Note: If the CAD file for a sub-component is located in different directory than the CAD file for the assembly, but already has been opened and costed as a standalone scenario, then the cost of the sub-component still is not included in the cost of the assembly. However, in the Assembly Details, the Status column includes a green circle indicator instead of a gray circle as well as the yellow warning indicator. This reflects that the sub-component scenario itself has a cost, but that it is not included in the assembly scenario estimate.

Add Missing Sub-Component

To incorporate a missing sub-component into an assembly estimate:

  1. Move its CAD file to the same directory (folder or subfolder) as the assembly CAD model.

  2. Re-extract GCDs for the assembly scenario.

  3. The Assembly Details tab now displays the sub-component name in normal font without a warning indicator, and assembly scenario cost estimate includes the cost of the sub-component scenario.
