Capabilities and Features in Version 1.0.0

aP Workspace 1.0.0 provides these capabilities and features.

Messages Page

In aP Workspace, you can collaborate with other users on the design and manufacturing of components (parts and components) by exchanging messages.

Info

To collaborate on a component, the component must first be uploaded to aP Professional or uploaded and published in Cost Insight Design.

Each message is associated with the component and one or more attributes (inputs and outputs) of the component. You, and other members of a collaboration, can reply to and assign messages.

The Messages page contains the messages for every collaboration that you are participating in so you can review all your important discussions and messages in one place instead of having to search for them across multiple collaborations and pages.

To open the Messages page, in the aP Workspace menu, click Messages.

For information about other helpful Message page capabilities and features, see:

Message Filters

The Messages page contains two filters that you can combine or use separately to display messages based on custom criteria and on whether the messages have been read.

The "Unread" button is a toggle filter. When it is:

  • On – Display all the unread messages that you have across all the collaborations that you are participating in (default).
  • Off – Display all the read and unread messages that you have across all the collaborations that you are participating in.

The Filter button opens a dialog that allows you to customize the filter by selecting one of these menu options:

  • Assigned To – Display only messages that are assigned to one or more selected users.
  • Status – Display messages based on if they have been resolved or not.
  • Mentions – Display only messages that mention a selected user. Image

Assign to Option for Messages

In aP Workspace, you can communicate directly with the other members of a collaboration by exchanging messages. Each message contains a menu that includes an option for assigning the message to another member of that collaboration. To assign a message:

  1. In the upper right corner of the message, click the kebob menu (3-vertically stacked dots).
  2. Click Assign to.
  3. Select a user from the drop down menu. Image

Open the Subject of a Message

Each message on the Messages page contains this information:

  • Source – Name of the person that created, updated, or assigned the message.
  • Subject – Name of the component (part or assembly) that the message is about.
  • Attribute – Inputs and outputs that the message is about.
  • Date – Date that the message was created, updated, or assigned.
  • Body – Communication in the message.

As applicable, a message can also contain:

  • A red dot that indicates that the message is unread.
  • A View replies link that both indicates how many replies exist and opens to the message stream in the component page.

You can open a page in aP Workspace that displays the scenario for the component that the message is about directly from the message. You can also jump directly to the context of the message from the Messages page, without first opening the scenario and then searching for the relevant information.

On the Messages page, in the message, To:

  • Open the scenario, click the value of the Subject.
  • Open the scenario and highlight the attribute that is displayed in the message, click the value of the Attribute.
  • Open the scenario and highlight the replies to the message, click the View replies link.

Parts & Assembly Page

The Parts & Assembly page contains a configurable table that contains all the scenarios for the components (parts and assemblies) that you can currently collaborate on in aP Workspace.

Note:

Private scenarios are not included because only you can access your private scenarios and users without access to a scenario cannot collaborate on that scenario.

You can add, remove, organize, and sort the columns in the table. The page contains filters that you can use to find various components and scenarios.

You can also open a page in aP Workspace that displays the scenario for the component that the message is about directly from the table on the Parts and Assemblies page.

To open the Parts and Assemblies page, in the aP Workspace menu, click Parts and Assemblies.

Info

The table on the Parts and Assemblies page features infinite pagination. When you scroll to the bottom of the page, the next 10 scenarios load.

For information about other helpful Parts and Assemblies page capabilities and features, see:

Configurability for the Parts and Assemblies Table

The table in the Parts and Assembly page can be configured and persisted for your next session.

For example, you can:

  • Hide and unhide columns – Use the Show/Hide Fields option Image !!! note "Note:"

The number of columns that are hidden are shown in parentheses.

  • Reorganize the table – Drag and drop the columns. Image

  • Pin columns – Click the kebob menu on the column and select Pin to Left. Image

Filter, Sort, and Search Capabilities for the Parts and Assemblies Page

Your organization can have many public scenarios in the table on the Parts and Assemblies page so finding a scenario of interest by scrolling is typically inefficient. Instead, you can narrow down the list of scenarios by:

  • Using the predefined and custom filters. Image
  • Searching for a scenario by component name. To do so, click Search and start entering the name of the component.
  • Sorting the data in a column. To do so, hover over the column, and then click the up or down sorting button, both of which appear. Image

Component and Scenario Access for the Parts and Assembly Page

The table in the Parts and Assembly page allows you to open Component and Scenario Details page in aP Workspace. To open the Scenario Details page, filter, sort, or search for the scenario of interest in the table on the Parts and Assembly page and then, click anywhere in the row that contains the scenario.
