What's New

aP Workspace 1.1.0 provides these enhancements.

Configurable Default User Preference Settings

The Preferences dialog allows you to change the color of your avatar and to select the default configuration for units, decimal places, and currency in aP Workspace.

To open the Preferences dialog, in the aP Workspace header bar, right-click your user avatar, which is in the upper right corner of both the Messages and Parts and Assemblies pages, and from the drop down menu, select Settings.

Image

By default, the Preferences dialog opens to the Display Preferences settings, which allows you to select the default settings for:

  • Units – System, Length, Mass, and Time
  • Decimal Places – Number of significant figures
  • Language – Supported languages. !!! info

For this release, English is the only option.

  • Currency – Cost unit Image

To change the color of your avatar, in the left-side pane, select Profile and then select a new Avatar Color from the set of predefined options.

Limitations

English is the only option in the Language menu for aP Workspace 1.1.0 because it is the only language that is currently supported. Any future releases that support additional languages will include options for the additional languages in the Language menu .

Process-Specific Commenting

aP Workspace provides data for all the processes that are required to make a component. In earlier releases, you could attach a comment to the combined data for all processes, but you could not attach a comment to the data for an individual process. For example, you could attach a comment to the combined Fully Burdened Cost for all processes, but not to the Fully Burdened Cost for only one process.

Now, you can apply a comment to the Fully Burdened Cost for an individual process:

  1. In the left pane of aP Workspace, click the Parts and Assemblies button. Image
  2. On the Parts and Assemblies page, search (by component name), scroll, or filter to the row that contains the scenario of interest. Image
  3. Click the Component Name for the scenario. The component opens in the Component and Scenario Details page.
  4. In the Component and Scenario Details page. Image
  5. In the chart on the Process Routing card in the Insights section, the y-axis shows the processes and the x-axis shows the time (for Cycle Time) or cost (for Fully Burdened Cost and Piece Part Cost). Click the bar for the data of interest. In thia figure, data for the Bend Brake process is selected. Image The data for the selected process appears in the Process card. Image !!! tip "Tip:"

To see more Process data, scroll down or increase the height of the Insights card by dragging, dropping, and then clicking the handle that is above the card. ![Image](../../../Resources/Images/ap-workspace/rn/1-1-0/whats-new-8.png)

  6. Hover over a data field and click the Comment button. Image The Commenting dialog opens. The Subject is the component name and the Attribute is the field that the discussion thread will be attached to. Image

  7. Enter your comment. Optionally, to also:
    • Mention another user in the comment, enter @ and then start entering the user’s name. Once the user’s full name appears, select it.
    • Assign the message that the comment is attached to the mentioned user, select the Assign to checkbox. Then click Comment. Image

aP Workspace creates a message thread that appears in the comment pane on the right side of the page. When you click the message, the data field that the thread is attached to is highlighted.

Image

As when you make or respond to any comment, all the users that are collaborating on the scenario receive both an:

  • Unread message about the comment on their aP Workspace Messages page.
  • Email notification about the comment.

Configurable Process Card

You can now customize the Process card to show the data that matters the most to you in any order you want.

  2. On the Parts and Assemblies page, search (by component name), scroll, or filter to the row that contains the scenario of interest. Image
  3. Click the Component Name for the scenario. The component opens in the Component and Scenario Details page.
  4. In the Component and Scenario Details page, in the Insights section, which is below the 3D viewer, click the Process Routing button. Image

In the chart on the Process Routing card in the Insights section, the y-axis shows the processes and the x-axis shows the time (for Cycle Time) or cost (for Fully Burdened Cost and Piece Part Cost). Limitations

Unlike the Scenario Results cards, which appear on the left side of the Components and Assemblies Details page, you cannot delete or change the name of a Process card.

You can now open a scenario directly to Cost Insight Design from aP Workspace. To do so:

Usability Improvements for Scenario Results Cards

Previously, on the Scenario Inputs card on the Components and Scenarios Details page, the value for any non-applicable input fields for the scenario was a dash (-).

For example, for an assembly, the value for the Material field was a dash because you cannot specify a material for an assembly. Now, any fields that are not applicable to a scenario are hidden on the Scenario Inputs card and the card provides the option to Show Non-Applicable Fields that are not displayed or to Hide Non-Applicable Fields that are displayed.

Image

To show or hide non-applicable fields, click Show Non-Applicable Fields or Hide Non-Applicable Fields, respectively.

Image

Also, to help you find fields more easily when you edit the Scenario Results card, the fields in the drop down menu on the Card Settings dialog are now listed in alphabetical order.
