Getting Started with aP Workspace

aP Workspace transforms manufacturing insights into actionable next steps, enabling teams to achieve efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness across projects.

View and Collaborate on Parts and Assemblies

Before you can view a scenario in Workspace

Before you can view a scenario in Workspace, it must be either costed in aP Pro (in the cloud) or analyzed and published in aP Design. For details, refer to the aP Pro and aP Design user docs. Note also that you can open a part directly in aP Workspace from aP Design – see Work with aP Design and aP Workspace.

When you start aP Workspace, the Messages tab opens by default and you can begin collaborating. In addition to the Messages Tab, the aP Workspace UI includes the Projects Tab and the Parts and Assemblies Tab.

Messages Tab

This is one of the areas in aP Workspace where you can collaborate with other users on the design and manufacturing of components by exchanging messages.

The Messages page contains the messages for every collaboration that you are participating in so you can review all your important discussions and messages in one place. For more details, see Explore the Messages Page.

Projects Tab

Collaborate cross functionally on parts and assemblies for high value projects using aP Workspace Projects.

You can create a project to pull together associated parts and people to collaborate on design, cost, carbon, and design for manufacturability. For more details, see Collaborate Using Projects.

Parts and Assemblies Tab

The Parts and Assemblies tab contains a configurable table that includes all the public scenarios for the components (parts and assemblies) that you can currently collaborate on in aP Workspace.

To start collaborating on a part, click the component name to open the Part and Assembly Details page. aP Workspace displays consistent information for all components, including:

  • Cost data
  • Material information
  • Design guidance
  • Sustainability data

For more details, see Explore the Parts and Assemblies Page and Explore the Part and Assembly Details Page.

Use the Knowledge Hub

aP Workspace offers a Knowledge Hub that provides in-application guidance. To access the Hub, click the light bulb icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

Ad blockers

Ad blockers can block the Knowledge Hub from appearing in your session. If you cannot see the Knowledge Hub icon, disable ad blockers for this page and clear your browser cache. For more details, see Problems seeing in-app guidance in aP Cloud applications.
