Raw Materials
Printed circuit boards are made of multiple materials (and so costing them requires multiple material inputs—see Assigning Materials).
Supported material types include:
Copper foil (roll): copper that is flexible until cured with prepreg
FR4 prepreg (roll): flexible until cured.
2-ply-FR4 (panel): rigid FR4 core with copper cladding on both sides
1-ply-FR4 (panel): rigid FR4 core with copper cladding on one side
Note: solo epoxy (core with no copper on either side) is not currently supported.
In starting point Digital Factories, materials are available in a variety of thicknesses:
Copper: 0.5oz, 1oz, 1.5oz, 2oz
Prepreg (mm): 0.075, 0.100, 0.120, 0.190
2-ply core insulator (mm): 0.10, 0.13, 0.21, …, 3.20
1-ply core insulator (mm): 0.10, 0.13, 0.21, …, 3.20
In starting point Digital Factories, panels are available in a variety of sizes:
9’ X 12’
9” X 18”
9” X 24”
12” X 18”
12” X 24”
18” X 18”
18” X 24”
24” X 24”
Note: the PCB process group differs from other process groups in that users control raw material types and sizes primarily through the use of setup options, rather than through the use of the Material Selection dialog (which doesn’t exist for the PCB process group). The initial costing uses reasonable material defaults. Users can subsequently use setup options to override default material assignments. See Assigning Materials.
