Working in Direct Integration mode

In Direct Integration mode, aPriori connects directly to a Creo® CAD application and retrieves geometry data of the CAD component that is active in the CAD application. The costing information for the component is saved in the aPriori database.

Direct Integration mode only works this way for Active scenarios - see Active and Inactive Scenarios. In addition, Direct Integration mode is only available for aP Pro On-Premise Deployments.

While working in direct integration mode:

  • You can open any number of scenarios in aP Pro, but the aPriori menu is only available for the active component in Creo.

  • In aP Pro, you cannot close the component that is active in the Creo application.

You can disconnect from and reconnect to the CAD application as desired.

You can reconnect aPriori to the CAD application directly in aP Pro or in the CAD application.

  • To connect to aPriori in the CAD application Select aPriori > Start aPriori or click the button. This feature is available only for CAD applications that support Direct Integration mode.
  • To disconnect from the CAD application in aP Pro, click the button. aPriori disconnects from the component that is currently active in the CAD application and the button is shown.
  • To reconnect to the CAD application in aP Pro, click the button. aPriori connects to the CAD application and you see the button.

Closing a component

To close a component, click the button on the component tab.

In Direct Integration mode, when you close a part or an assembly in the CAD application, that part or assembly remains open in the aP Pro. You can close any component in the aP Pro except for the one that is active in the CAD application.

Switching to the Ticker

To switch to the aP Pro Ticker, click the button in the aP Pro toolbar. The aP Pro Ticker shows cost information for the component that is active in the CAD application.

Limitations

Capabilities that require GCD extraction from multiple files, such as bulk costing, are not supported by Direct Integration mode. See Bulk Costing and Analysis.
