Roll-ups
Roll-ups are containers which allow you to group a set of components together for analysis, including items which may not have a CAD model, including:
-
User-defined processes such as inspections.
-
Off-the-shelf purchased parts.
-
Non-mechanical components such as lubricants.
-
Paper components such as user manuals.
You can then use roll-ups to analyze this group of components, so you can fully cost BOMs.
Tip: You can also export roll-ups for analysis and reporting, using aP Analytics.
Using Roll-ups
Roll-ups are created with a unique name and Digital Factory. The Digital Factory determines the base currency for the roll-up.
A roll-up can contain other roll-ups, including functional groups (see Functional groups).
Note: Roll-up subcomponents are not CAD-connected and therefore cannot fetch new GCDs. You cannot change GCD-related settings such as the progress group for a subcomponent, unless it is also open in its own tab.
See our Tutorials for real-world examples of using roll-ups to support typical business tasks.
Static Roll-ups
A static roll-up is created by searching aP Pro for components (parts, assemblies or other roll-ups), and selecting which of these components to add to the roll-up.
See Static Roll-ups.
Tip: See also the Perform Static Roll-ups aP Academy training course.
Dynamic Roll-ups
A dynamic roll-up is auto-populated from aP Pro, when the search criteria you defined when creating the roll-up are met.
See Dynamic Roll-ups
Tip: See also the Perform Dynamic Roll-ups aP Academy training course.
Functional Groups
Functional groups are roll-ups in a roll-up, and allow you to organize large product structures that may not be defined in CAD. You can create functional groups individually, or you can import a template to generate the whole functional group structure in one step.
See Functional groups.
