Confirm an aP Connection

It is a best practice to confirm the connection between aP Connect, the Agent, and your PLM or File System after you install an agent or update software. You can also confirm the connection as part of a troubleshooting method for issues that arise in your deployment.

Prerequisites

Before you can confirm an agent-to-PLM or File System connection, you must install an aP Connect Agent. For more information, see Install an Agent.

Confirm an aP Connect-to-Agent-to-PLM System Connection

To confirm that aP Connect is connected to your PLM or File System, in aP Connect:

  1. Open the Connectors page. In the aP Connect header bar, click Connectors.
  2. Scroll, or sort and scroll, to the Name of the connector that is associated with the Agent under confirmation.
  3. Examine the Connection status. If the status is:

    • Connected to PLM – aP Connect is connected to the Agent and the Agent is connected to your PLM or File System. You can now test the functionality of the connection.

    • Connected to Agent – aP Connect is connected to the Agent, but the Agent is not connected to your PLM or File System.

To troubleshoot the Agent-to-PLM or File System connection:

      • For a PLM integration only, make sure that your PLM server is turned on and accessible to the server that contains the Agent.
      • For a PLM integration only, make sure that the Agent Server is turned on and can access the server that contains the PLM system.
      • For a File System integration only, make sure that the machine or server that the agent is installed to is turned on.
      • For a File System integration only, start or restart the File System agent. For more information, see Stop, Start, or Restart an Agent.
      • Make sure that the information and credentials in the application, plm-connection and apc-connection properties files, which are all stored in the Agent installation folder, are correct.
      • Uninstall and reinstall the Agent.
