Test an aP Connect Connection¶
After you install, configure, and confirm an aP Connect Agent it is a best practice to test the functionality of connection between aP Connect, the Agent, and your PLM system by creating and invoking a workflow.
Prerequisites:¶
- Install an aP Connect Agent. For more information, see Install an Agent.
- Confirm that aP Connect is connected to your PLM system. For more information see, Confirm an aP Connection.
- Manually cost a simple test part in aP Design.
- Use aP Connect to cost the same test part automatically.
For a File System integration, before you can cost the part automatically, you must set up a file for the simple part in the CAD Files subfolder to the input directory in the workflow-specific subfolder to the aP Connect root folder on the machine or server that the agent is installed to. For more information, see the aP Connect System Administrators Guide.
- Review the results to ensure that the scenario costed successfully. Then delete the scenario from aP Design. For more information, see the aP Design User Guide.
Test the Functionality of a Connection:¶
To Test the Functionality of an aP Connect-to-Agent-to-PLM System Connection
- Log in to aP Connect.
-
Create and configure a workflow that uses the connector that is associated with the agent under test. To learn how to create and configure a workflow, see the aP Connect System Administration Guide.
For a PLM integration, configure the workflow to query for the part that has already costed successfully in aP Design.
For a File System integration, configure the workflow to use the connector that is associated with the installed agent.
-
Invoke the workflow. To learn how to invoke a workflow, see the aP Connect System Administration Guide.
- From the generated report, email notification, or the Job Details window in aP Connect, open the aPriori Part Number part link once costing is complete.
- Review the results in aP Design.
-
If the scenario costed successfully, you can either test more functionality by updating the connector and the workflow or proceed to use aP Connect.
If the scenario did not cost successfully, first reconfirm the Cost-Insight-Connect-to-Agent-to-PLM or File System connection. For more information see, Confirm an aP Connection.
If the connection is not the issue, in aP Connect:
-
In the workflow settings, review the query definition. Make sure that the values in the query match the part information in your PLM system. Also make sure that the logic returns the intended part.
-
In the connector settings, review the field mappings. Make sure that the value in each PLM Field matches the name of corresponding field that is displayed in your PLM system.
-
In the workflow job information, review the Job Status and the Status Details. To learn how to view the job information for a workflow, see the aP Connect System Admin Guide.
