Forward Agent Logs to Observe

Forward aP Connect Agent logs to Observe, with optional forwarding of custom MiddleCode logs.

Prerequisites

• Agent version 5.1.0 or later
• Local administrative rights to open Windows PowerShell as Administrator and complete the installation
• Obtain the Token, Observe URL, and Customer ID for your environment before starting

Detailed Steps

1. Download and extract CIC Agent 5.1.0 or later. Populate options.ini and complete the standard Agent installation wizard
2. Open Windows PowerShell as an Administrator
3. Run the install_observe_agent.ps1 script included with the Agent package
4. When prompted, enter the Token, Observe URL, and Customer ID supplied for your environment

5. When asked to add an additional log source:

   • enter Y only if your deployment uses custom MiddleCode that should be forwarded, then enter the intended log path.

   If the path contains spaces, wrap the full path in double quotes

   • If no additional log sources are required, enter N to continue.

   If prompted again to add another log source, most deployments should also enter N unless another approved path should be included

The installer completes the Observe Agent installation. Once finished, the selected logs begin forwarding to Observe.

Validate log paths before completing setup

The Agent and MiddleCode log sources referenced here are not expected to contain PII. However, you should always verify any paths you enter, as incorrect paths may result in unintended or sensitive data being forwarded to Observe.
