Managing Connectors¶
A Connector is software entity that you create in the aP Connect to enable communication between aP Connect and your PLM system.
For each PLM system that you connect to aP Connect, you must create and configure one Connector. You must also create and configure one Connector for each file system that you connect to aP Connect. For more information, see the aP Connect Agent Installation Guide.
Connector management includes¶
- Creating Connectors – For each Connector that you create, you must configure Details and Mappings settings. The Details settings identify and describe the Connector type, and the connection information. The Mappings settings map attribute fields in your PLM system to aP Connect fields.
- Establishing and testing connections – To establish and test a connection between your PLM or file system and aP Connect, you must first install a Java connectivity Agent. For a PLM integration, you install the Agent on your PLM server or on a server that your PLM server can access. For a file system integration, you install the Agent on the machine that contains your component production and manufacturing information. To learn how to install an Agent, see the aPriori aP Connect Agent Installation Guide. For help installing an Agent, establishing a connection, and testing the connection, contact aPriori Customer Support.
- Editing Connector settings –You can edit certain Details and Mappings settings and you can add new mappings. However, due to potential downstream issues, you cannot delete pre-existing mappings or edit certain other Details and Mappings settings.
- Deleting Connectors – As required due to system updates and modifications, you can delete a Connector. However, you cannot delete a Connector unless you first delete all associated Workflows. If you delete a Workflow while it is executing, the Workflow can continue to execute but it may not execute to completion and the job information does not get written to the View History tab on the Workflows page. Furthermore, all previous jobs for the Workflow are deleted from the View History tab.
