Terminology Change: "Digital Factory" replaces "Virtual Production Environment (VPE)

For clarity, the term "Virtual Production Environment" has been replaced by the term "Digital Factory".

The term "Virtual Production Environment" and its plural and abbreviated forms, "Virtual Production Environments", "VPE", "VPEs" are being replaced by the term "Digital Factory" and its plural form "Digital Factories" in aPriori applications. This update is a name change only. That is, just like a VPE, a Digital Factory represents a manufacturing facility with specific capabilities, materials, and rates.

All instances of the deprecated term and its plural and abbreviated forms have been replaced by "Digital Factory" or "Digital Factories" in the aPriori Professional and Cost Insight Design environments.

Limitations:

  • Digital Factory import and export files still use the *.vpe file extension.
  • Cost Insight Report and Cost Insight Admin still uses the "Virtual Production Environment" term and its plural and abbreviated "VPE" forms.
  • Certain command line entries still use the term abbreviated form, "VPE" of the Virtual Production Environment" term.
