This issue has been resolved in Cost Insight Design 2022 R1:

Amended Unit of Measure for Material Density

The material density unit of measure in the Material Selection dialog has been amended to the measurement system that users have indicated that they prefer and is now expressed in kg/m3, which is an industry-recognized SI unit.
