Examine Material Utilization

The Material Utilization tab includes information about the material that is used to manufacture the component, including mass and utilization. You can override the Unit Cost and the Percent Utilization.

The Utilization (%) is calculated from the values shown in the Utilization section of the details panel: Utilization is equal to the Finish Mass of the part divided by the Rough Mass (which includes any material scrap).

Material Utilization Calculation

The material utilization calculation depends on which of these options was selected for the scenario in aP Pro:

  • Computed: aPriori computes utilization with a facility-defined algorithm. The algorithm used varies by process group; see the process group documentation in the aPriori Cost Model Guide.
  • Machine Default: aPriori uses the selected machine’s default utilization value.
  • Override: You specify the material utilization value in the % field. If you selected Override, enter the value in the % field.
