aP Design Header and Toolbars

The aP Design UI is divided into the following distinct regions:

Header Bar

The header bar provides top-level aP Design functions.

The table describes the actions associated with the icons in the header bar.

Icon Description:
Image Explore: explore and access scenarios and comparisons.
Image Evaluate: analyze scenarios and examine the results.
Image Comparisons: compare scenarios.
Image Preferences: set default values for the aP Design environment. See Set Default Values and Configure Preferences for details.
Image Help options: access help, including user documentation and Support.
Image Account View your profile information and logout.

New Scenario, Comparison and Project

Select New Scenario to import and analyze a part or assembly (see Import CAD Files into aP Design):

Select New Comparison to compare scenarios (see Compare Scenarios):

Select New Project to create a new project in aP Workspace (see Create a New Project):

Toolbar

The aP Design toolbar appears as follows when you select one or more components on the Explore tab:

Toolbar items and Actions menu options vary depending on which aP Design tab is open and whether a selected scenario is private or public.

The following table identifies and describes the icons in the toolbar.

Icon Description:
Image Copy a private scenario.
See Copy a Scenario.
Image Make a private component into a public scenario.
See Publish a Scenario.
Image Create a private version of a public scenario.
See Edit a Scenario.
Image Generate and download spreadsheet reports.
See Generate Reports.
Image Delete the selected scenario or comparison.
See Delete a Scenario.
Image The Actions menu includes:
- Assign: Assign a public scenario to a team member. See Assign a Scenario.
- Info: Open the Information and Notes dialog for the selected scenario.
- Lock and Unlock: Lock or unlock a scenario for unauthorized changes. See Lock or Unlock a Scenario.
- Update CAD File: Update the component in a private scenario by incorporating any changes made to the CAD file outside of aP Design. See Update a CAD File.
Image Compare selected scenarios.

Image Analyze the scenario.

Image Gain insights into how a scenario has changed over time.

Image Select the mode, either aPriori or Manual.

Image Open a scenario in aP Workspace or copy link to aP Workspace.
Image State message, showing either:
- The state of an aP Design process that you initiate.
- The analysis state of the current component.
Image When the view was last refreshed.
Image Refresh the view. You only need to refresh if the Last updated time is older than any edits made to a scenario.

Evaluate Tab: State Messages

The state message on the Evaluate tab toolbar shows the state of the component, scenario, or comparison. For example:

The table includes the symbol and includes a description for each state.

Icon State Description
Image Not Analyzed Scenario has not been initialized (analyzed for the first time).
Image Analysis in Progress aP Design is analyzing the scenario.
Image Processing Edit Action aP Design is creating an editable private copy of a public scenario.
Image Processing Publish Action aP Design is publishing a private scenario, thereby making it into a public scenario.
Image Complete The analysis results are valid for the specified values for the scenario.
Image Incomplete aP Design cannot analyze the current scenario. For more information, see the Design Guidance tile.
Image Unanalyzed Changes The analysis results are not valid for the specified values for the scenario.
Image Failed The analysis cannot proceed.

Display Area

The contents of the display area depend on whether the Explore, Evaluate, or Comparisons tab is selected.
