Import a Simple Part¶
This example imports a simple part from a CAD file in a supported format. (See the topic 'Supported CAD Applications and Formats' in aPriori Cloud System Requirements for details).

Import a Part¶

From the Explore tab, click New Scenario:

The Import CAD File dialog opens.

Select the CAD file to import and click Open:

In the Import CAD File dialog, click Submit to import the file:
After the file is imported, aP Design displays a dialog that indicates that the file was imported successfully.

Click Close to close this dialog.
View Imported Part¶
After you import a new part, aP Design creates a new component and an initial scenario for the component, showing this information in the Recent filter:

aP Design translates the geometry in your CAD file to Geometric Cost Drivers (GCDs), which represent the CAD model geometry specific to the type of manufacturing you will select.
