Automated Cost Avoidance Fields and Measures¶
In the aP Analytics Ad Hoc reporting tool, by using the aPriori Ad Hoc Data domain you can identify the highest cost scenario for a component and view the cost avoidance between the highest cost scenario and a selected scenario facts record.
While the Automated Cost Avoidance OOB (Out of Box) report examines cost avoidance at a moment in time, the Ad Hoc reporting tool allows you to observe changes in cost avoidance over time and gives you more flexibility in selecting a set of components for which to view cost avoidance.
Note: the Automated Cost Avoidance solution considers a unique component as the combination of part number, scenario name, component type, and component schema.
Scenario Highest Facts ID Field¶
The Scenario Highest Facts ID field indicates the ID for the highest cost scenario facts record. The field is in the Scenario folder of the aP Analytics Ad Hoc reporting tool Fields list.
Scenario Highest Cost, Scenario Cost Avoidance, and Scenario Annualized Cost Avoidance¶
The Scenario Highest Cost, Scenario Cost Avoidance, and Scenario Annualized Cost Avoidance measures all depend on the selected metric for the highest cost. The options for the metric are:
- Fully Burdened Cost
- Piece Part Cost
- Total Variable Cost
The Scenario Highest Cost measure is the highest cost value that is associated with the component for the selected highest cost metric.
Note:
The highest cost scenario facts record and its cost value are not removed during a reporting database purge.
The Scenario Cost Avoidance measure is calculated as the difference in cost for the selected highest cost metric between the highest cost scenario and the selected scenario facts record. Scenario Cost Avoidance does not include the cost of child components or component quantity in its value.
The Scenario Annualized Cost Avoidance measure is calculated as the Scenario Cost Avoidance value multiplied by the annual volume associated with the selected scenario facts record. You can use Scenario Annualized Cost Avoidance to incorporate component quantity into your cost avoidance value.
All three measures are represented in both the Reporting Database Currency and USD Currency (United States Dollar). They are in the Scenario Facts folder and Cost Avoidance subfolders of the aP Analytics Ad Hoc reporting tool Measures list.
