What's New for 2021 R1

The 2021 R1 versions of the Enterprise Platform Installer, Cost Insight Admin, and Cost Insight Report provide these enhancements in functionality, performance, usability, or robustness.

Enterprise Platform Release Notes 2021 R1

New and improved DTC/DFM for the Machining and Sheet Metal process groups

Generate DTC part summary reports that include detailed Design-to-Cost/Design-for-Manufacture metrics that allow you to easily identify manufacturing issues for machined and sheet metal parts.

You can now generate a DTC Part Summary Report that includes these new and improved Design-to-Cost/Design-for-Manufacture (DTC/DFM) metrics for the Machining and Sheet Metal Process Groups:

  • Machining:
    • Minimum Floor Radius Issues – Count of Slot GCDs where the radius of the fillets is equal to or less than the depth of the slot, causing the shank of the tool will clash with the part
    • Slot Shape Issues    – Count of Slot GCDs that cannot be groove milled and has sharp corners so it cannot be ball end milled
    • Dovetail: Zero Tool Neck Diameter Issues – Count of Slot GCDs that are too deep for available dovetail mills and would result in impossible tool neck sizes
    • Obstructed Volume Issues – Count of Slot GCDs where the volume is blocked by other geometry of the part, such that it cannot be finish-machined entirely by conventional tools
    • Keyseat Mill Accessibility Issues – Count of Slot GCDs where the required groove milling wheel diameter would clash with an obstruction when machining the slot
  • Sheet Metal:
    • Sheet Metal Issues – Count of issues which make the geometry difficult or impossible to make with standard sheet metal processes, may require extra processing to achieve the desired geometry, or may decrease the quality of the final product
    • Sheet Metal Issues / Sheet Metal GCDs – Ratio of the count of sheet metal issues to the count of sheet metal GCDs
    • Sheet Metal Feasibility Issues – Count of issues which make GCDs difficult or impossible to make with standard sheet metal processes
    • Sheet Metal Feasibility Issues / Sheet Metal GCDs – Ratio of the count of sheet metal feasibility issues to the count of sheet metal GCDs
    • Sheet Metal Cost Driving Issues – Count of issues which may require extra processing to achieve the designed geometry
    • Sheet Metal Cost Driving Issues / Sheet Metal GCDs – Ratio of the count of sheet metal cost driving issues to the count of sheet metal GCDs
    • Hole Issues – Count of issues related to hole GCDs that makes them difficult to manufacture with standard sheet metal processes, may require extra processing to achieve the desired geometry, or may decrease the quality of the final product
    • Bend Issues – Count of issues related to bend GCDs that makes them difficult to manufacture with standard sheet metal processes, may require extra processing to achieve the desired geometry, or may decrease the quality of the final product
    • Form Issues – Count of issues related to form GCDs that makes them difficult to manufacture with standard sheet metal processes, may require extra processing to achieve the desired geometry, or may decrease the quality  of the final product
    • Material Issues – Count of issues related to the material, such as issues with the flat pattern or minimum and maximum thickness violations
    • Blank Issues – Count of issues related to the blank that makes it difficult to manufacture with standard sheet metal processes, may require extra processing to achieve the desired geometry, or may decrease the quality  of the final product
    • Proximity Issues – Count of issues related to GCDs' proximity to other GCDs, which can make them difficult to manufacture with standard sheet metal processes, may require extra processing to achieve the desired geometry, or may decrease the quality  of the final product

For a complete list of available DTC metrics, see the DTC Metrics List tab in the aP Analytics Schema Model Spreadsheet.

Tool Tip usability improvement for Ad Hoc report Descriptions

The Field/Measure Name and Currency Type are now listed at the start of the Description tool tip in Ad Hoc reporting

In prior releases, the Field/Measure Name and Currency Type were sometimes excluded from the visible text in the Tool Tip for Ad Hoc report Descriptions because they were the listed last. Now, when you create a calculated measure, the Field/Measure Name and Currency Type are included in the Description Tool Tip because they are listed first.

pcbPart Scenario type field

Export printed circuit board part scenarios to Cost Insight Report by using Cost Insight Admin

To support the new PCB (Printed Circuit Board) process group the pcbPART scenario type has been added to the Cost Insight Admin configuration settings and to the aP Analytics Schema Model.

Simplified Upgrade Process

The Enterprise Platform upgrade process no longer requires a copy and paste process on the default_master.properties file.

Previous versions of the Enterprise Platform required that you copy and paste the pre-existing default_master.properties file during the upgrade process.

Now, due this to this upgrade process enhancement, you no longer have to perform the copy and paste process on the default_master.properties file.

aPriori License Manager Service Configuration Settings for Setup Wizard

Provide your License Manage Service URL via the Enterprise Platform Setup Wizard.

The aPriori License Manager Service manages the activation keys for all the aPriori applications and modules in your aPriori On-Premise deployment.

When you install or upgrade to a new version of Cost Insight Admin and Cost Insight Report, you must specify the URL for License Management Service in the aPriori License Manager Service Configuration settings of the Enterprise Platform Setup Wizard.

The Wizard can obtain and preset the URL from:

  • A properties file in which your Database Administrator (DBA) has specified the URL
  • A properties file from a previous aPriori installation

Otherwise, you can specify the URL directly in the configuration settings.

Chrome and Chromium Configuration Settings for Setup Wizard

Provide the path to your Chrome or Chromium browser application via the Enterprise Platform Setup Wizard.

To use Ad Hoc reports that contain charts, you must install and use a Google Chrome or Open-Source Chromium browser to access Cost Insight Report. You can configure your Chrome or Chromium settings during the installation process by specifying the path to the browser application in the Enterprise Platform Setup Wizard.
