Introduction to Creating Digital Factories

The Digital Factory Manager allows you to create a new custom Digital Factory, by:

• Copying an existing Digital Factory, inheriting from a parent Digital Factory. See Copy a Digital Factory.
• Creating a new Digital Factory, then adding process groups manually. See Create a Digital Factory.

Note:

By far the most common operation is to copy a Digital Factory, maintaining inheritance from a parent Digital Factory.

Understanding Custom Digital Factories

Custom Digital Factories can represent a specific factory or supply chain. Estimates are specific to that facility and these require configuration, adding any new processes, treatments, machines,and materials to this new Digital Factory.

Tip:

You can use Overlay Digital Factories to inherit values from parents, making it easier to create and maintain your custom Digital Factories. See Introduction to Overlay Digital Factories.

Before Starting

Before you start with custom digital factories:

1. Ensure you take the Digital Factory Manager aP Academy training course, and engage with the aPriori Customer Success team for further information.
2. Create a digital factory maintenance plan.
3. Create a backup of your digital factory before making changes.
4. If available, make all digital factory changes in a staging or sandbox environment before implementing them in a production environment.
