Improved Workflows for Using and Installing Analyze-in-aPriori CAD Plug-ins

New versions of the Analyze-in-aPriori CAD plug-ins significantly improve both the end-user experience and the ease of deploying the plug-ins. These new plug-ins are compatible with aP Pro 2026 R1 SP2.

End-User Improvements

The Analyze in aPriori plug-ins allow engineers to upload CAD models to aPriori directly from their CAD system. However,

  • Customers using aPriori's cloud solutions previously had to complete multiple additional steps after clicking the Analyze in aPriori button, in order to log in and authenticate as a user of aP Design.

  • The UI for performing those additional steps previously was unclear, requiring users to open the plug-in Options dialog.

This over-complicated the workflow and potentially prevented some users from completing the CAD upload. The plug-in workflow now is more streamlined, eliminating multiple steps and clearly presenting required user inputs.

As part of these improvements, the Analyze in aPriori plug-ins no longer require installation of the aPriori dedicated browser but instead can leverage the end-user's default browser. For users who leverage their default browser, there are some additional usability improvements resulting from this change:

  • Each CAD model sent to aPriori now opens in a distinct browser tab rather than a separate browser window, making it easier to consolidate and review the aPriori analysis for each model.

  • Users gain access to standard browser features such as URL refresh, tab duplication, and password manager integration.

Installation Improvements

In addition to removing the need to install the aPriori dedicated browser as a prerequisite, aPriori has improved the plug-in installer to make it easier for an IT administrator to deploy the plug-ins to end user machines.

Previously the plug-in installation created user-specific property files and registry entries, requiring post-installation modifications to ensure the plug-in could find the relevant properties files and registry entries when run with an end user account instead of the Admin or System account used to performed the installation.

This additional setup no longer is needed; the required registry key now is created at the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE level, and a shared property file now is installed and accessed automatically.

Issues Resolved

  • aPriori 2026 R1 SP2 resolves an issue where assembly components sharing a name with their parent assembly were missing from aP Design after upload via the Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor, and Solid Edge plug-ins. The plug-ins incorrectly treated the component and the assembly as duplicate files and uploaded only one, resulting in an incomplete assembly tree in aPriori Design.

  • aPriori 2026 R1 SP2 resolves a stability issue in the NX plug-in that could cause NX to crash during use. To address the root cause, the plug-in UI has been rebuilt; the appearance will look different, but all end-user functionality remains the same. All NX users are encouraged to upgrade to this release, particularly those who have experienced NX crashing when using the aPriori plug-in.

LDAP: Pending De-Support for Out-of-Date Encryption Algorithms

If your company uses aP Pro on-premise and uses LDAP to import and authenticate aPriori users, be aware that the next release of aP Pro, 2026 R1 SP3, will include the latest version of OpenJDK, which removes support for the 3DES and RC4 Kerberos encryption protocols. To ensure users will be able to log in to aPriori, customers are advised to upgrade their LDAP Servers to support AES encryption prior to moving to aP Pro 2026 R1 SP3 when it is released (December 2026), or any future version. Note that few customers are expected to be impacted, as these protocols already are deprecated, and Microsoft Active Directory now enforces AES encryption by default as of the July 2026 cumulative update for Windows Server.
