Cost Model Changes that Do Not Affect Configured Digital Factories¶
The following changes do not affect costings with Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions. The changes are available only in the latest cost model version (CMV280).
-
Manual Paint: Number of Parts per Booth (impacts cycle time, labor time, overhead): In the previous release, by default in starting point Digital Factories, the cost model assumed that parts are cured one at a time. In this release, by default in starting point Digital Factories, the cost model assumes that multiple parts are cured concurrently. The number of parts assumed to be cured concurrently is the maximum number of parts that fit in the paint booth, which is calculated based on part dimensions, booth dimensions, and a spacing factor.
Administrators can customize the default with the cost model variable defaultConcurrentManualPaintCuring. This is set to true in starting point Digital Factories, meaning the maximum of parts are cured concurrently by default. A value of false means that parts are cured one at a time by default. Users can override the default value on a per-part basis with the setup option Number of Parts per Booth.
As a result of this change, cycle time, labor time, and overhead might go down significantly, particularly for small parts.
-
Manual Paint: Part Handling Time (can impact cycle time, labor time, overhead): In the previous release, the manual paint model assumed that the time to load or unload a part was 160 seconds by default. Administrators could override the default with the cost model variable manualPaintPartLoadTime. In this release, the times are based on part size and weight, as specified in the lookup table tblHandlingTimes. As a result of this change, times and costs may change compared to the previous release.
- Additional Direct Costs: cost calculations for sanding disks and cleaning wipes were updated to allow usage across multiple parts.
