Cost Model Changes that don't Affect Configured Digital Factories

The following changes do not affect costings with Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions. The changes are available only in the latest cost model version.

  • Carbon Estimates for an Expanded Set of Operations: In the previous release, the Machining process group provided CO2e estimates for many primary machining operations but not for all standard operations and secondary machining processes. In cases where machining operations were included that did not provide carbon estimates, aPriori alerted the user via the Sustainability tab, and indicated the percentage of total cycle time from operations that neglected carbon estimates.

In this release, the Machining process group provides carbon emissions estimates for all standard machining operations (but note that carbon emissions estimates still are not provided for Chemical Milling operations or for Multi-spindle Machining processes). These estimates account for the carbon emissions due to the energy required for the machine’s spindle to remove material from the workpiece.

As a result of this change, per-part CO2e estimates may increase due to the additional operations that now provide estimates.

  • Side Milling for Slot Walls: aPriori 2024 R1 corrects an issue in which the cycle time for side milling a surface erroneously was calculated as an extremely large number. This issue occurred only when the surface was the wall of a Slot that was assigned General Rough Milling and the wall was oriented 90 degrees to the primary setup axis.

  • Wire EDM Hole Cutting: aPriori 2024 R1 corrects an error in which Wire EDM Cutting failed if assigned to the central hole of a MultiStep Hole GCD. Now Wire EDM Cutting can be assigned to such holes and cost successfully.
  • Wire EDM Slot Cutting: aPriori 2024 R1 now allows Wire EDM to be assigned to machine slots which have yaw. Previously Wire EDM operations would fail for such slots, but this is feasible in practice so now is allowed.
  • 4-Axis Mill for Castings and Forgings: aPriori 2024 R1 corrects an error that occurred for some castings and forgings with secondary machining on 4-Aaxis Mill. In some cases, an incorrect rotational setup direction was chosen for the part. Now the correct rotational setup will be selected.
