Cost Model Changes that Do Not Affect Configured Digital Factories¶

The following changes do not affect costings with Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions. The changes are available only in the latest cost model version.

Nestal Injection Molding Machines (impacts Direct Overhead): Machine data for this release includes lower prices for Nestal brand injection molding machines. As a result, for a set of test parts, Direct Overhead decreased by an average of 78% and Fully Burdened Cost decreased by an average of 47%, with Nestal machines.
Number of Mold Cavities (Impacts Hard Tooling Cost): For Injection Molding, when the setup option Number of cavities is set to Base on annual volume (single mold), aPriori now selects the number of cavities required to meet the production requirements with just a single tool. Previously, aPriori selected the lowest cavitation that met the production requirements, even if multiple tools with that cavitation would be required.

As a result of this change, Hard Tooling Cost may decrease with large production volumes when aPriori chooses a higher cavity count to reduce individual cavity wear and reduce the number of required tools to one.
