Site-Variable Spreadsheets

This section describes spreadsheets that tell you how to configure geometry extraction when you want to do both the following:

• Upgrade to Release 23.1.3.
• Use a cost model version that was introduced in a prior release.

The spreadsheet comes in two versions:

• Best Results Spreadsheet (recommended): assumes that you want to take advantage of all the latest geometry improvements that are compatible with your cost model version.
• Minimal Impact Spreadsheet: assumes that you want to minimize the cost impact of your upgrade.

Best Results Spreadsheet

If you use the best results spreadsheet, follow these steps to configure geometry extraction for a given process group:

1. Click the tab corresponding to the process group you want to configure. The tab contains a table that lists the process group's site variables.
2. Find the column corresponding to the cost model version you are using.

3. For each site variable, find the value listed in the column for your cost model version. Ensure that the site variable is set to the listed value. If the value is highlighted in red, this value is required for compatibility with your cost model's logic.

   Site variables highlighted in orange either have changed in value in the latest two releases or have been introduced in the latest two releases.

Hidden columns detail the nature of the changes between pairs of cost model versions, indicating where site variables were added, removed, or changed in value.

Minimal Impact Spreadsheet

If you use the minimal impact spreadsheet, follow these steps to configure geometry extraction for a given process group:

1. Click the tab corresponding to the process group you want to configure. The tab contains a table that lists the process group's site variables.
2. Find the column corresponding to the cost model version you are using.

3. For each site variable, find the value listed in the column for your cost model version. This value minimizes impact compared to the release in which the cost model was introduced.

   If the value is highlighted in red, you must set the site variable to the highlighted value. This value is required for compatibility with your cost model's logic.

   Site variables highlighted in orange either have changed in value in the latest two releases or have been introduced in the latest two releaeses. For orange site variables, you can use the latest value or you can maintain the behavior of a prior release by using the value in a column corresponding to a prior cost model version.
