License Types¶
An aPriori license is split into different sub-licenses, aligning with the Named Subscriber Options section of your aPriori contract, and enabling different aPriori product capabilities.
Additional sub-licenses may be indicated as variations of the header names shown in parenthesis below - for example, if user seats are being loaned for a period of time shorter than the current license expiry (costDataAuthorLicense_Loan).
License types can be:
Core functionality End User Sub-Licenses¶
These end user sub-licenses enable core functionality.
Cost Developer (costDeveloperLicense or developerLicense)¶
For users who regularly and frequently use aPriori products to cost components and analyze data.
These users can access aPriori's more advanced functionality if these licenses are included as part of the customer's contract - see Module-specific Licenses
Note:
To edit CSL using the cost model workbench, the user need the Digital Factory admin checkbox checked in the user list.

Cost Data Author (costDataAuthorLicense or standardLicense)¶
For users who use aPriori to cost components as needed, but do not require the advanced functionality available in the cost developer license. So this license type does not include the advanced functionality noted above for Cost Developers.
Note:
This user may have the the Digital Factory admin checkbox checked. In this case, they will be able to update values in the Digital Factory toolset, but will not be able to edit CSL.

aP Pro & aP Admin System Administrator for IT Configuration (adminLicense)¶
For users that will access tasks for system administration, IT configuration, installation and license management.
This license type does not include the advanced functionality noted above for Cost Developers, or any CAD connectors (they will not be able to open CAD files in aPriori Professional via the File > Open CAD File menu.
Note:
aPriori does not sell aP Pro or aP Admin Licenses separately, if a customer needs more System Admin licenses they must buy Cost Author licenses.

aP Analytics (onlyCIRLicense or aPALicense)¶
For users such as managers and key stakeholders (product development, sourcing, manufacturing or program/product management) that will review and analyze cost data but not create and edit project data or cost estimates.
If you enable Access Control to be extended to aP Analytics, you must assign this sub-license to users to have the appropriate data access in aP Analytics.
Note:
Users with this license cannot access aP Pro or aP Admin.
aP Generate (cloud only) (onlyCIGLicense or aPGLicense)¶
For cloud customers that have purchased aP Generate. Users will utilize the automated costing feature to bring CAD data into the aPriori environment.
If you enable Access Control to be extended to aP Analytics, you must assign this sub-license to users to have the appropriate data access in aP Analytics.

Users with this license cannot access aP Pro or aP Admin.

aP Design (cloud only) (onlyCIDLicense or aPDLicense)¶
For cloud customers. Users can leverage aP Design to generate and review cost estimates on an as needed basis.
Users with this license cannot access aP Pro or aP Admin.

Contributor (cloud only) (contributorLicense)¶
For cloud customers. Users can view parts and projects on aP Workspace to review and comment on parts being costed in other applications. This license type will not include any other applications or functionality.

CAD Connector License¶
All "Create and Edit" licenses (such as Cost Developer (costDeveloperLicense or developerLicense)) come with CAD Connector licenses, enabling users to analyze CAD files including the following file formats:
- A "Standard CAD Connector" license: supporting Creo / Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, ACIS and STEP formats.

A "Parasolid CAD Connector" license: supporting Unigraphics NX, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Parasolids and STEP formats.

Module-specific Licenses¶
These licenses enable access to specific modules of aPriori functionality.
Bulk Costing & Analysis¶
This module is separately licensed based on contract. It is used to automate the costing process. This module has separate batch costing modes:
- Using the module’s user interface.
- Importing cost inputs from a spreadsheet.
- Using aPriori’s “headless” costing mode.
Example applications include integrating aPriori with engineering automation for a Computer Design of Experiments to determine designs with optimal cost and performance or executing batch costing for hundreds of parts to generate an initial estimate that can be used in outlier analysis.

BOM Loader¶
This is a flexible data loaders for importing bills of materials and part data from ERP, PLM or other business systems into aPriori to use in product comparisons or product rollups. This module enables loading a bill of materials, including its hierarchical structure and associated component data as well as commodity parts (eg. nuts, bolts, washers) that are commonly used in assemblies.

Digital Factory Manager and Digital Factor Creator¶
This module allows customers to create digital factories (VPEs) by copying an existing digital factory and editing processes, materials and machines or different labor, overhead and material rates.
This module is also used to maintain and update digital factory data; for example, to add a machine, or to change machine labor rates.

Cost Model Workbench¶
This module is separately licensed based on contract foundation level. It enables the editing and configuration of cost model logic. It allows an organization to build and/or edit its own cost models.
