Geometry or Cost Engine Changes that Could Impact Configured Digital Factories

The following changes might impact costing, even for Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions.

  • Widespread Enhancements: The Sheet Plastic process group has been significantly enhanced in aPriori 23.1. All the original processes from previous cost model versions (with the exception of No Cost Feature) have been disabled in the latest cost model version (CMV130), and a new set of processes has been added. Geometry extraction uses an entirely new algorithm suited to the new processes.

    Note:

    Sheet Plastic cost models prior to CMV130 are incompatible with aPriori 23.1 default geometry extraction. To use a prior cost model version, you must restore the old extraction behavior by setting the site variable sheetPlasticGcdAlgorithm to LEGACY.

    Note:

    To use the latest cost model version, the new geometry extraction algorithm must be enabled, that is, the site variable sheetPlasticGcdAlgorithm must be set to UPDATED_2023 (the default in starting point Digital Factories).

    To re-cost an old scenario with the latest cost model version, you must be CAD-connected so geometry can be re-extracted. Moreover, if a pre-CMV130 routing has been manually selected for the scenario, you must modify the selection to allow aPriori to auto-select the routing or you must manually select a new, CMV-130 routing.

    If you do not want to re-cost an old scenario but merely want to view it with the new release, aPriori recommends that you lock the scenario to prevent inadvertent changes if you are using the latest cost model version.
