Tolerance relations between features and datums¶
Currently, there is no explicit way to define tolerance relations between GCDs or between a feature and a datum. For example, on the part below, while you could define the 0.03 profile of surface tolerance on the curved surface itself, there is no way to datumize that reference to datums A and B in aPriori.
Similarly, position tolerances are entered on the specific features the position tolerance is applied to and are not connected to any references.
The best practice is to apply the tolerance on the associated feature; and be aware that there may be additional machining challenges not anticipated by the cost model related to what references are associated with that tolerance callout.
Note:
Certain tight tolerances on features may require that feature to be machined on the same machining setup as the datum feature. In this case, you can override the setup assignment for the features in question so they are all machined on the same setup.
