Geometry or Cost Engine Changes that Could Impact Configured Digital Factories

The following changes might impact costing, even for Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions.

  • Heavily Machined Extrusions: This release improves cross-section recognition for the following kinds of parts:
    • Parts that are both bent and heavily machined, in which large portions of an original extruded profile are removed
    • Parts with some CAD modeling error or imprecision (for example, those in which the profile geometry was created by blending two profiles rather than as an extruded feature, resulting in some slight variation in the profile over the length of the part) In the previous release, costing failed for many of these parts, and aPriori displayed the message aPriori cannot find the requested stock form. These parts may now be routed to the Extrusion process. More rarely, the previous release extracted an erroneous cross-section. For these parts, aPriori is now more likely to extract an accurate cross-section.
