Cost Model Changes that don't Affect Configured Digital Factories

The following changes do not affect costings with Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions. The changes are available only in the latest cost model version.

  • Chipmaking Time for Hole Making Operations (impacts cycle time): The previous release calculated chipmaking time as the time required for the tool to traverse the length of the hole. This release calculates chipmaking time as the time required to traverse the length of the hole plus the length of the tool tip, since the tool tip must clear the far side of the hole. Some additional clearance is added as well for through holes, to guarantee a clean breakthrough.

The assumed tool tip cone angle is specified by the cost model variable defaultDrillConeAngle (59 degrees in starting point Digital Factories). The cone angle together with the tool diameter determine the tool tip length.

    Note:

To restore the previous behavior, set defaultDrillConeAngle to 90 degrees.
