Geometry or Cost Engine Changes that Could Impact Configured Digital Factories

The following change has potential impact for all process groups that support Axigroove GCDs, regardless of cost model version:

  • Turning Axis and AxiGroove Extraction: This release extracts a TurningAxis and AxiGroove GCD for the following types of gear parts:
    • The gear feature occupies the entire length of the part.
    • The outermost surface of the teeth is either planar or a curved surface that is not rotationally symmetric about the part’s turning axis. Previously, no TurningAxis or Axigroove was extracted for such geometry. As a result of this change, parts modeled this way now will include TurningAxis and Axigroove GCDs when they did not in previous releases.
