Editing Sustainability data

When aP Pro costs a part, by default, the Sustainability data is based on the data in the selected Digital Factory. This data is extracted from Regional Data Libraries. This data includes the Material Carbon Factor and Energy Carbon Factor for processes. You may, for example, have new data on the Energy Carbon Factor data for a factory's specific location (rather than its region or country), or updated data on Material Carbon from a supplier. In these situations, in aP Pro you can override the existing Sustainability data, so that the results of the sustainability calculations are more accurate.

You can edit Sustainability data in aP Pro in the Part Details tab and in Digital Factory Manager. The consequences of editing the Sustainability data in the Part Details tab are different from the consequences of editing Sustainability data in Digital Factory Manager.

After you edit Sustainability data in the Part Details tab, and recost a part, the changes apply only to that specific scenario. This is useful because you can edit Sustainability data for one scenario, cost it, and review the impact on Total Carbon and Annual Carbon. This can help to find a solution to updated engineering requirements. However, for new scenarios, aP Pro applies the Sustainability data from the Digital Factory settings. After you edit Sustainability data in Digital Factory Manager, you save the settings. aP Pro then applies the new Sustainability data to any scenario manufactured at that Digital Factory which you subsequently recost or cost. Therefore, the changes made in Digital Factory Manager often have long-term impact. For more information, see Edit Sustainability data in Digital Factory Manager.
