Geometry or Cost Engine Changes that Could Impact Configured Digital Factories

The following changes might impact costing, even for Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions.

  • New Layer GCD Properties (no cost impact): This release extends GCD extraction to read dielectric thickness and dielectric type (prepreg or core) from ODB++ files. (This new functionality is not supported for Gerber files.) As a result, the Geometric Cost Drivers pane now displays two new properties of the Layer GCD: Dielectric Thickness and Dielectric Type. The cost model does not currently use these properties, so there is no cost impact. They are currently for informational purposes only; they make it easier to check that the material stack up calculated by aPriori matches the ECAD definition. In a future release, the cost model will use the properties to ensure an accurate stack up is defined without the need for extra user input and overrides.
