Introduction to Access Control

System administrators can use the Access Control feature to define which users and which actions that users can perform on which object types (resources).

aPriori recommends that you contact aP Pro Services for assistance in creating and deploying an Access Control environment for your site.

Important:

For aPriori cloud users, the Permissions screen is view-only; you cannot add or edit. In addition, In the Groups screen, all panes except the Members pane are view only; cloud users can add and remove members for an existing group, but you cannot add or otherwise edit groups. You must contact your aPriori account team to request changes to Permissions and Groups. aPriori Services team members are able to make these updates on your behalf.

This chapter explains how to configure Access Control.

Organize users into groups and sub-groups and assign access control permissions to those groups.

As an aPriori administrator, you can:

• Provide granular access to different types of resources such as components, roll-ups, and Digital Factories.
• Control the actions that users can perform on these resources, such as create, read, update, delete, or cost.
• Organize users into groups and sub-groups and assign access control permissions to those groups

The Access Control feature provides fine-grained control of groups of users to resources such as Digital Factories, parts, assemblies, and the different types of roll-ups.

By default, Access Control for a new or upgraded installation of aPriori is configured to emulate the legacy approach of distinct component and Digital Factory schemas. Sites that choose not to implement Access Control should see little or no difference in behavior after installing or upgrading.
