Geometry or Cost Engine Changes that Could Impact Configured Digital Factories

The following changes might impact costing, even for Digital Factories that use earlier cost model versions.

  • Highly Deformed Parts: This release improves stock selection as well as bend and form recognition for parts that have large amounts of deformation. These improvements include:
    • More frequently recognizing when a part is intended to be made from a standard round tube stock rather than a custom extruded stock
    • Correctly recognizing geometry intended to represent bends or forms, rather than designating them as NotSupported GCDs
    • Identifying the correct stock length, even in the presence of poorly modeled bends and forms As a result of these changes, the selected stock form and/or stock dimensions may change compared to the previous release, and some features that were previously extracted as NotSupported GCDs may now be extracted as Bend or Form GCDs.
